Abstract
Manufacturers and users of transformers are nowadays capitalising the core losses while considering the costings. Therefore a software packa ge which enables an engineer to predict within a short period the appr oximate core loss in a transformer of any rating and geometry will be very useful. This paper describes how such a 2-D package has been deve loped using the finite element method to compute flux density and henc e loss distribution in transformer cores made of anisotropic material.
