Single-lined spectroscopic subsystems with periods of 70.5 and 118.5 d
ays were discovered in the visual double stars Cou 327 = HD 193797 and
Cou 542 = HD 216963. respectively. The elements of their spectroscopi
c orbits were calculated. The preliminary visual orbit of Cou 327 was
computed for the first time (P = 35 years), and an improved visual spe
ctroscopic orbit of Cou 542 (P = 30.5 years) was also obtained. Dynami
cal parallaxes were estimated. The invisible component of Cou 542 may
be a white dwarf, and the orientation of the orbit for the close subsy
stem can be determined from special high-precision interferometric obs
ervations of submotion in the visual pair.
