Abstract
A quantum analog to the classical Poincare surface of section, based o n the Husimi function, is calculated for the quartic oscillator: H = 1 /2(P(x)2 + P(y)2) + x2y2/2 + alpha(x4 + y4). The corresponding quantum densities in phase space are analyzed, and they show certain localiza tion properties for a large number of states. (C) 1994 John Wiley & So ns, Inc.
