The breakup temperatures for central Au + Au collisions at 35A MeV hav
e been determined from the relative populations of excited states of L
i-5, He-4, and B-10 fragments and nine double ratios involving the yie
lds of elements with 1 less than or equal to Z less than or equal to 6
. Unlike results reported at significantly higher energies, all thermo
meters yield temperatures that an consistent within the experimental u
ncertainties. Extrapolation of thr data to zero impact parameter yield
s T-cm = 4.6 +/- 0.4 MeV, somewhat lower than the temperature assumed
in statistical multifragmentation model calculations which describe mo
st of the other features of this reaction.
