Previous studies established that cardiovascular disease can be predic
ted early in life. Active modification of risk factors in the general
population should include screening as the first step. For this reason
, lipoproteins and apolipoproteins were measured in newborns and adole
scents. Almost all lipids and apolipoproteins were much lower at birth
than at adolescence. Based on these results, reference ranges were ca
lculated.
