Abstract
The progress made by fabric filtration technologies and their successf ul application in other industries make it possible to consider their use for the treatment of windbox gas on iron-ore sintering plants. A f abric filtration pilot with a 5000 m(3)/h capacity has been connected to an industrial strand and equipped with a neutralization unit. By pr ecoating the woven glass filtering bags with Ca(OH)(2), the filtration efficiency is high and the pressure drop acceptable. Desulfurization trials of the fumes by means of dry or semi-dry technologies have been made using Ca(OH)(2) or NaHCO3. removal rate is of the order of 75 %. The possibility of industrial upscaling of such a facility is discuss ed.
