A study was carried out in order to investigate the opinions that Span
ish psychology students had concerning psychoanalysis. Subjects were s
tudents who received their degree in the year 1993. Data were collecte
d using a questionnaire that was filled by a sample of 765 students in
their last year of psychology training at 15 Spanish Universities. Wi
th some differences among Universities, results indicate that Spanish
students largely reject psychoanalysis as a theoretical approach, and
that the majority of them do not consider psychoanalysis as part of sc
ientific psychology. It can be concluded that the psychodynamic approa
ch do not have an important degree of acceptance among Spanish student
s.
