Abstract
A quantum mechanical treatment of the effects of stacking faults on de channelling is given. A simple harmonic model for the planar potential due to two planes surrounding the channel, and the corresponding boun d states in the potential are considered. At the stacking fault bounda ry, these states make transitions for which the probabilities have bee n calculated, using the 'sudden approximation'.
