APPROXIMATION OF ATTRACTORS BY ALGEBRAIC OR ANALYTIC SETS

In this work the authors introduce a method for approximating the glob al attractor of dissipative differential equations (including the two- dimensional Navier-Stokes equations) based on the time analyticity (in a fixed infinite band) of all solutions lying on the attractor. In pa rticular, three families of polynomial maps are constructed with the p roperty that, under some suitable conditions, their zeros approximate the attractor.
