B. Legras et al., DECLARATION OF THE NOSOCOMIAL INFECTIONS - A NEW APPROACH FROM BACTERIOLOGY, Medecine et maladies infectieuses, 24(6-7), 1994, pp. 798-800
In France, nosocomial infections (NI) must be declared by the physicia
ns, but they are not. Using an appropriate methodology (''doubles'' an
d early samples are not taken in account), the software created by the
authors (BACTERIO working on PC) allows to select the ''suspected'' g
erms of nosocomial infection (NI) from bacteriological data. It permit
s to provide for each of them a declaration of suspected NI. It indica
tes the definitions corresponding to the type of infection (urinary, p
ulmonary, septicemic, post-operative wound) and the reasons of the sel
ection. In respect of the clinical data, the physicians may inform in
case of disagreement. This new procedure should allow to better evalua
te the NI in the hospital.
