Oa. Isaenko et al., ANALYSIS OF THE MUTAGENIC AND TERATOGENIC EFFECTS OF GRISEOFULVIN IN THE MUTAGEN-SENSITIVE LINE MUS(2)201G1 OF DROSOPHILA-MELANOGASTER, Genetika, 30(6), 1994, pp. 796-800
The mutagenic effect of griseofulvin was demonstrated in a wing somati
c mosaicism test (SMART) in different Drosophila lines. The mutagenic
effect of this agent is accompanied by a pronounced toxic effect on Dr
osophila larvae and by a teratogenic effect, which is manifested in th
e reduction of ommatidia, phenocopying the mutation ey (eyeless -4:2.0
). A relationship was shown between the level of the phenocopies and t
he dose of griseofulvin (GF), the genotypes of the treated larvae, the
interval and duration of GF exposure, and also sexual differences. Th
e lowest level of phenocopies is recorded for the line developed on th
e basis of the mutagen-sensitive mutation mus(2)201G1, which blocks ex
cision repair.
