I. Brailovsky et G. Sivashinsky, ON QUENCHING OF THE REACTION WAVE MOVING THROUGH SPATIALLY PERIODIC SHEAR-FLOW, Combustion science and technology, 95(1-6), 1994, pp. 51-60
A one-dimensional model describing a self-sustaining reaction wave mov
ing through a unidirectional periodic flow field is proposed and studi
ed numerically. In the case of zero diffusivity of the deficient react
ant the reaction wave undergoes partial extinction, as a result of whi
ch a considerable portion of the original premixture remains unconsume
d. For long-wavelength fields within a certain range of the flow inten
sities the system exhibits a peculiar nonuniqueness of possible propag
ation regimes. The transition from one regime to another occurs in a m
anner of hysteresis.
