G. Wang et Jj. Lannutti, SURFACE CAVITY MICROENVIRONMENTS IN A POROUS CERAMIC RADIANT GAS-BURNER, Combustion science and technology, 95(1-6), 1994, pp. 277-311
A computer model has been developed that describes the microenvironmen
t of a surface cavity in a porous radiant ceramic burner. The model su
ggests that these cavities generate a nearly adiabatic condition leadi
ng to high concentrations of gaseous radical species. Predicted degrad
ation characteristics closely resemble those seen in commercial radian
t burners. From these calculated gas compositions and substrate temper
atures, three different modes for burner degradation are proposed.
