Abstract
High-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry detection was used to separate and characterize some dinuclear iron de rivatives of general formula [Fe2(CO)5(Ph2PXEPh2-p){Et2C2(CO)C2Et2)] ( X = CH2 or CH2CH2, E = P or As). Reversed-phase conditions and a parti cle-beam (PB) interface were used. The chromatographic behaviour of th ese compounds depends strongly on the substituents in the ligands. The fragmentation pathways both in electron impact and in chemical ioniza tion mode mass spectrometry were studied.
