Abstract
The area perception of incomplete (interpolated) geometric figures is studied. The obtained data are discussed in order to compare them with the results of our previous experiments where complete figures were s tudied. The results of the present experiment support the validity of the model of area perception that is based on the concept of image fun ction. The different contributions of the perceptual processes as well as of the cognitive processes to the area estimation are discussed.
