Lc. Breeding et Dl. Dixon, USE OF LIGHT-POLYMERIZING RESTORATIVE MATERIALS IN DIAGNOSTIC CAST MODIFICATION PROCEDURES, The Journal of prosthetic dentistry, 72(3), 1994, pp. 331-333
During the treatment-planning phase and before provisional restoration
s are made for the partially edentulous patient, it is often necessary
to complete diagnostic cast modification procedures. Traditionally wa
x has been used for this purpose; therefore, it is necessary to duplic
ate the modified cast before fabrication of a vacuum-formed matrix. Th
e cast duplication procedure can be eliminated by the use of light-pol
ymerizing provisional restorative materials for cast modification inst
ead of wax. Diagnostic casts for two patients are presented in this ar
ticle, where techniques for using such a light-polymerizing material a
re described.
