Abstract
Diffraction evidence of the formation of defect-density waves in incom mensurate modulated phases has been found for the first time by an x-r ay method. The test samples were thiourea crystals. A new state of the modulated structure is established. It is characterized by a superpos ition of several modulation waves along a single crystallographic dire ction.
