S. Rizk et al., NATURAL POLYMER HYDROPHILIC MATRIX - INFLUENCING DRUG-RELEASE FACTORS, Drug development and industrial pharmacy, 20(16), 1994, pp. 2563-2574
In porous hydrophilic polymeric systems, two phenomena control the rel
ease of drugs the water uptake and polymer swelling. Directly compress
ed hydrophilic matrices were prepared with scleroglucan as gelling age
nt. A principal components analysis enables the authors to study the c
orrelation between the above phenomena and the dissolution behavior in
order to interpret the effect of polymer concentration excipient solu
bility and compression force on the drug release.
