H. Weber et al., STABLE AND UNSTABLE PRODUCTS ON THE REACT ION OF 2,2-DIPHENYL-1,2-DIHYDROQUINOLINENITROXIDE RADICALS WITH NITRIC-OXIDE, Zeitschrift fur Naturforschung. B, A journal of chemical sciences, 49(8), 1994, pp. 1041-1050
The stable 2,2-diphenyl-1,2-dihydroquinolinenitroxide radicals 1 react
with nitric oxide (NO) to form the stable nitro compounds 2 and 3 as
main products. The stable dinitro compounds 6 and 1,2-dihydroquinoline
s 7 are formed in minor yield as side-products accompanied with the un
stable N-nitroso compounds 4 and 5, which further decompose to form th
e stable products mentioned above. The proposed mechanism of the react
ion is discussed in terms of homolytical processes and is supported by
PM3 calculations.
