Ma. Karpushin et al., HYDROCHEMICAL WATER-STRUCTURE OVER THE KA SHEVAROV BANK AND VERTICAL TRANSPORT OF NUTRIENTS, Okeanologia, 36(6), 1996, pp. 868-874
The paper presents results of 3-year studies of the Kashevarov bank wa
ters in the Sea of Okhotsk. The analysis of the vertical distribution
of the nitrates, phosphates, silica acid, and dissolved oxygen in sect
ions crossing the bank showed the existence of two eddies of different
signs: an anticyclonic Tailor-Hogg columm, and a cyclonic trapped edd
y, over the bank. The hydrochemical structure of the bank waters and t
he reasons of the anomalies caused by different external conditions ar
e discussed. The vertical velocity of the nutrients and the bank water
influence of the total productivity of the Sea of Okhotsk are estimat
ed.
