Abstract
In the presence of silver carbonate, primary and secondary alcohols su ch as gamma-hydroxybutyrophenone, 17 alpha-21-dihydroxy-4-pregnene-3,1 1,20-trione and 11 alpha-hydroxy-17 alpha-methyltestosterone react wit h alkyl halides in N,N-dimethylformamide under mild reaction condition s to give the corresponding unsymmetrical dialkylcarbonates in good yi elds.
