We have studied the problem of coherent and sequential tunneling throu
gh a double-barrier structure, assisted by light considered to be pres
ent all over the structure, i.e., emitter, well, and collector as in t
he experimental evidence. By means of a canonical transformation and i
n the framework of the time-dependent perturbation theory, we have cal
culated the transmission coefficient and the electronic resonant curre
nt. Our calculations have been compared with experiments results and t
urn out to be in good agreement. Also, the effect on the coherent tunn
eling of a magnetic field parallel to the current in the presence of l
ight has been considered.
