Abstract
The Cu85Pd17 alloy is known to be chemically ordered (fcc L 1(2)) at l ow temperature and to exhibit a disordering transition at T-c = 778 K. Using thermal-energy atom scattering, a vicinal surface of Cu83Pd17(1 10) (miscut 1.8 degrees) was found to undergo a single-step-double-ste p morphological transition when crossing the bulk critical temperature .
