Abstract
Carnallites with a not yet known content of NH4 were found as ground c rystals in solution pools at the locality ''Bunte First'' of the salt mine ''Marie'', ERA Morsleben. These carnallites contain 0.2 to 0.8 % NH4. The NH4 is inserted in the carnallite structure instead of K. The partition coefficient b of NH4 in carnallite is about 10. Additionall y a new phase with 2.06 % NH4 Was found. The composition of this new p hase is [K2(NH4)Mg3Cl9 . 18 H2O].
