Abstract
We give a simple example of the Zeno effect, the suppression of a syst
em's Hamiltonian evolution by its environment. The system-environment
interaction can be regarded as a (projective) quantum measurement one,
or as a random decohering one; the distinction only arises at the ind
ividual system level.
