The electrochemical behavior of formetanate and chlordimeform is studi
ed by using dc polarography, cyclic voltammetry, ac polarography and d
ifferential pulse polarography (DPP) in universal buffers of pH 2.0 to
12.0, including 1 M HClO4 and 1 M HCl. The number of electrons is det
ermined by millicoulometry. Kinetic parameters such as transfer coeffi
cients, diffusion coefficients, and heterogeneous forward rate constan
t values are evaluated using these techniques. The results obtained su
ggest the nature and mechanism of the electrode process. Differential
pulse polarography is used for the estimation of formetanate in formul
ation.
