Abstract
We present a case of persistent fetal supraventricular tachycardia whe re transplacental and direct fetal treatment with amiodarone caused an iatrogenic hypothyroidism. This condition was successfully managed wi th the intra-amniotic instillation of 250 mu g of L-thyroxine weekly, for 3 weeks. A male infant was delivered at 32 weeks by Caesarean sect ion. The neonatal electrocardiogram showed Wolf-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome, which was controlled by digoxin alone. Thyroid function norm alized quickly and the baby is developing normally.
