F. Brighenti et A. Dercole, EVOLUTION OF SUPERNOVA-REMNANTS GENERATED BY MOVING MASSIVE STARS, Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 270(1), 1994, pp. 65-74
When an isolated massive star moves with respect to the interstellar m
edium (ISM), the supernova explosion is likely to occur outside the bu
bble generated by the precursor during the main-sequence stage. Off-ce
ntred explosions inside the cavity occur only for very massive and/or
very slow stars. Several 2D numerical models are worked out and compar
ed with some observed supernova remnants that could have originated fr
om the explosion of moving progenitors. The influence of such remnants
on the interpretation of the 'number-size' relationship is also discu
ssed.
