EPR spectra were used to follow the coordination of Cu(II) to amino fu
nctions supported on DVB-crosslinked polyacrylamines. The dependence o
f the extent of rigid divinylbenzene (DVB)-crosslinking on the incorpo
ration of amino function, Cu(II) intake and the coordination geometry
and the covalent character of the Cu-N bond was followed. The structur
e of the Cu(II) complex has a distorted tetragonal geometry and the co
valency of the Cu-N bond varies with the extent of the rigid DVB-cross
linking in the polyacrylamide support.
