Abstract
We propose a twin-core erbium-doped optical fiber amplifier. It has th e advantage over the conventional single core erbium-doped fiber ampli fier in that it has a flat gain characteristic over a wide bandwidth, i.e. within 30 nm. By adjusting the pump power launched into one of th e cores, the gain characteristic can be tuned.
