THE SYNERGETICS MECHANISMS OF OCEANIC COH ERENT STRUCTURES FORMATION

The basic principles of synergetics formulated in four laws are presen ted in the review. The fundamental role of the critical phenomena theo ry is emphasized in the study of self-organizing fluid motions. The av ailable data on coherent structures in oceanic hydrophysical fields ar e analyzed; the papers on synergetics methods for the ocean processes study are reviewed. The methods for the description of phenomena cause d by strong dissipative nonlinearity are shown to be promising.
