Abstract
We present the (constrained) canonical reduction of four dimensional s elf-dual Yang-Mills theory to two dimensional sine-Gordon and Liouvill e field theories: The Dirac brackets in the latter two theories are de rived from the reduction of the Poisson brackets in the former, at the classical level.
