Bf. Davis et al., LOOKING FOR THE ISOSCALAR GIANT-DIPOLE RESONANCE IN PB-208 USING INELASTIC ALPHA-SCATTERING AT AND NEAR 0-DEGREES, Nuclear physics. A, 569(1-2), 1994, pp. 30000325-30000332
The isoscalar giant dipole resonance (ISGDR) in Pb-208 has been invest
igated using inelastic, scattering of 200 MeV a particles at and near
0-degrees where the angular distribution of the ISGDR can be clearly d
ifferentiated from other modes. The ''difference of spectra'' techniqu
e was employed to separate the contribution from the high-energy octup
ole resonance (HEOR). Results from a preliminary analysis of the data
are consistent with the expected positions of the ISGDR and HEOR, as w
ell as their expected angular distributions near 0-degrees.
