The paper deals with the study of the reactions of oxomolybdenum(v) sp
ecies under different anionic environments like Cl- and ox2- ions both
in solid state as well as in solutions in presence of 2-(2'-pyridyl)b
enzthiazole (PBT) leading to the synthesis of various paramagnetic der
ivatives PBTH2 [MoOCl5], [MoOCl3.PBT], [MoOCl(ox)PBT] and diamagnetic
or feebly paramegnetic derivatives [Mo2O3Cl4 (PBT)2], [Mo2O4Cl2(PBT)2]
and (PBTH2)2 [Mo2O3Cl4(ox)2]. The composition of the compounds has be
en established through elemental analysis and various physicochemical
studies, like uv-visible, ir and epr spectral analysis.
