Abstract
Field and laboratory work was performed to gather information to evalu ate the hypothesis that host selection by larva of Ormiscodes socialis (Feisthammel) is fundamentally associated to nutritional value of the leaves. Evidence is reported which indicates that nitrogen content of leaves can account for the preferential utilization of the host by O. socialis, without excluding possible effects of other non nutritional factors not evaluated in this first approach to the problem.
