The performance of a drift tube prototype in a 0.5 TeV/c muon beam was
studied. Presented is a comparison of experimental data with a GEANT
simulation in order to determine the validity of the Monte Carlo in si
mulating the detector performance in the presence of the electromagnet
ic contamination associated with high energy muons. The Monte Carlo si
mulation generally was with few exceptions in 30% or better agreement
with the data.
