The copolymerization of ethylene and styrene was carried out in the pr
esence of TiCl4/NdCl3/MgCl2/AlEt3 catalyst. The influences of comonome
r ratio, concentrations of catalyst and AlEt3, solvents, and temperatu
re on the copolymerization were investigated. Copolymerization product
s containing styrene of 4-85 mol % were obtained with good yield. The
results of C-13-NMR, IR, X-ray diffraction, and solvent extraction sho
w that the products are mainly copolymers with various comonomer seque
nces and exhibit special mechanical properties. (C) 1994 John Wiley &
