Bf. Binder et Ws. Bowers, PRECOCENE-II-INDUCED CHANGES IN THE ANATOMY OF MIDGUT GOBLET CELLS OFLAST-INSTAR LARVAE OF HELICOVERPA-ZEA (BODDIE) (LEPIDOPTERA, NOCTUIDAE), International journal of insect morphology & embryology, 23(2), 1994, pp. 127-134
Midgut goblet cells of last-instar larvae of Helicoverpa zea (Lepidopt
era : Noctuidae) that were fed precocene II, appear smaller in diamete
r and have cavities that are elongated when compared with the goblet c
ells of larvae fed on normal diet. These precocene-induced changes may
account for some of the decrease in growth and the delayed developmen
t observed in the last-instar larvae that were fed diet containing pre
cocene II.
