Abstract
Squamous metaplasia of the glandular epithelium was found in the palat ine salivary glands of two canaries, originating from a flock in which there was a variable intake of egg food. The histological changes, in combination with the history, indicate a vitamin A deficiency as a re sult of a selective intake of foord as the most likely aetiology.
