Ja. Lori et al., DIFFERENCE IN CONCENTRATION OF SOME MINERAL ELEMENTS IN THE TISSUE AND BARK OF WHITE YAM (DIOSCOREA-ROTUNDATA), Discovery and innovation, 6(1), 1994, pp. 14-16
The difference in concentration of some mineral elements in the tissue
and bark of two cultivars of white Yam (Dioscorea rotundata) sampled
randomly from Kaduna State of Nigeria is reported. The elements report
ed were determined by Flame atomic absorption spectrometry and Flame e
mission spectrometry. The Ca, Fe, Mg and K contents were significantly
different contrary to concentration of Cu, Na, Ni and Zn showed insig
nificant differences. In both cultivars, Fe showed the highest bark/ti
ssue ratio while K had the lowest.
