J. Singh et al., GROWTH OF DIAMOND ON AU(SELECTIVE) AND AL(2)O(3) SURFACES, Materials science & engineering. B, Solid-state materials for advanced technology, 26(1), 1994, pp. 41-48
The hot-filament chemical vapor deposition process was used to deposit
diamond films on gold and alumina substrates using different depositi
on conditions. Diamond nucleation and growth on a gold surface readily
occurred at low temperatures compared with the alumina substrate. Thi
s resulted in selective growth of diamond on the gold surface and patt
erning of diamond films. Scanning electron microscopy was employed to
study the morphology of the films.
