Abstract
Monoclonal antibody to intercellular adherence molecule-1 (ICAM-1) was used to inhibit leukocyte adherence in two models of burn injury. The antibodies to ICAM-1 had significant effects in preserving microvascu lar blood Bow in burn wounds, and in modulating the systemic response to major burn injury. These results suggest a central role for leukocy tes in the pathophysiologic response to burn injury.
