Abstract
Effect of heat.stress on (CO2)-C-14 assimilation and translocation by different parts was investigated in Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L .) Czern.]. Heat stress reduced (CO2)-C-14, assimilation by leaves, st em and pods. Export of radioactive carbon from upper and lower leaves, upper and lower stem and stem of terminal raceme was inhibited in res ponse to heat stress. Import of C-14-photosynthates into pods was also inhibited by heat stress indicating reduction in sink strength of the developing pods.
