Abstract
A new approximation technique to find the total series impedance per u nit length for quasi-TEM transmission lines including conductor loss h as been developed. It is shown through the use of conformal mapping th at both frequency dependent skin-depth and proximity effects can be ac curately modeled. Comparison between experimental measurements and cal culations for twin-lead, coplanar strips, parallel square bars, and co planar waveguide all show excellent agreement. This technique is easil y generalized to any transmission line making use of polygonal cross-s ection conductors.
