Mm. Eldefrawy et al., CHARACTERIZATION AND ELIMINATION OF THE INTERFERING EFFECTS ON FLAME ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRIC DETERMINATION OF SELENIUM, Analusis, 22(6), 1994, pp. 350-352
The interfering effects of some ions in the determination of selenium
by flame atomic absorption spectrometry were investigated. The most ma
rked effect was observed for copper. All the studied interferences wer
e completely eliminated by adding n-butylamine plus thiourea to both s
ample and standard solutions in acidic medium. The mechanism of the el
imination is discussed. Moreover, the continuous inhibition-release ti
tration method has been used in studying the stoichiometric ratios bet
ween the analyte and the interferents.
