Tk. Song et al., STRUCTURAL AND ELECTROOPTIC PROPERTIES OF BATIO3 THIN-FILMS GROWN BY PULSED-LASER DEPOSITION ON SRTIO3 SUBSTRATES, Journal of the Korean Physical Society, 27, 1994, pp. 190000065-190000068
Ferroelectric BaTiO3 thin films was epitaxially grown by pulsed laser
deposition on BaTiO3(100) and SrTiO3(110) substrates. By x-ray theta-2
theta scan and pole figure measurements, it was confirmed that the BaT
iO3 films were grown epitaxially along (100) direction on BaTiO3(100)
substrate and along (110) direction on SrTiO3(110) substrate. Surface
morphology was studied by an atomic force microscopy. The linear biref
ringence of the films shows a quadratic dependence of applied electric
fields. By considering the index ellipsoid in the presence of applied
electric fields, we interprete these effective quadratic electro-opti
c behaviors in terms of a linear electro-optic coefficient for BaTiO3.
