Jf. Reading et al., A REVIEW OF SOME SELECTED 2 ELECTRON PROCESSES IN ION-ATOM COLLISIONS, Nuclear instruments & methods in physics research. Section B, Beam interactions with materials and atoms, 86(1-2), 1994, pp. 38-44
A brief review is given of some selected theoretical results obtained
recently involving two electron processes in ion-atom collisions. We d
iscuss: the removal of the Paul discrepancy; the improvement in the de
scription of double ionization of helium; the difficulties being met b
y theoretical attempts to describe two-electron charge transfer; a cla
ssification scheme for correlated calculations and finally the reprodu
ction of the experimental observation of the excitation of a one-elect
ron helium ion in collision with a hydrogen atom.
