Good results of rectopexy for complete rectal prolapse have been achie
ved using the transabdominal approach. With the introduction of the la
paroscopic technique in cholecystectomy, many other abdominal procedur
es have been tried with the laparoscopic technique with varying degree
s of success. The laparoscopic technique has opened up a new possibili
ty of a minimally invasive approach to rectopexy. With the elimination
of a major incision in laparoscopic rectopexy, the patients may benef
it from less morbidity associated with a major abdominal wound. In thi
s case report, laparoscopic rectal mobilization and rectopexy using Ma
rlex(R) mesh and a hernia stapler is reported.
