The binuclear silver(I) cryptate [Ag(2)L](ClO4)(2) (L = C48H66N8O6) wa
s prepared by [2+3] Schiff base condensation of tris(3-aminopropyl)ami
ne with 2,5-dimethoxy-1,3-phenylenedialdehyde in the presence of AgNO3
. Crystal structure determination shows the cryptate possesses a formu
la C48H66N8O14Ag2Cl2. Each silver coordinates to three nitrogen atoms
and has a slightly distorted trigonal environment. The coordinated ato
ms form a sulphur chain.
