Abstract
The three-dimensional structures of cyclosporin A complexed with cyclo philin A or Fab fragment of a monoclonal antibody were compared. In th ese two complexes conformations of the fragment D-alanine-8-N-methylva line11 in cyclosporin A were in a good agreement. In addition, cycloph ilin A and the Fab fragment had related arrangements of the aromatic a mino acids in their binding sites, implying that antibody independentl y utilizes similar structural themes for binding cyclosporin A as cycl ophilin A.
